Nancy Cohlmia
As one of the founding board members of The Treehouse, Nancy Cohlmia has poured her knowledge into making The Treehouse a place where women can become confident mothers, create rich friendships and have a support network centered around God’s love. Nancy is a consummate mother. Widowed at the age of 35, Nancy raised four children under the age of 12. She raised them to love God and one another, to surround themselves with good friends and to build community. She did all of this while running a small business.
Nancy has been an aunt to so many people, most of whom she isn’t related by blood. Nurturing her relationships and friendships is how Nancy spends much of her day – she talks with her four children, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two sister and brother almost every day. In addition, she has the same friends she has had since she got married and moved to Wichita. And she talks to most of them each day. If they have passed on, she connects with their children.
Nancy’s legacy is a quiet, intentional one. She has been generous with her time and provided financial and emotional support to many. But her greatest ministry, if one single thing had to be chosen, is the guidance and support she has given to those who have lost a spouse and are raising small children on their own.
For the friendship Aunt Nancy has given to so many mothers and babies in the community, The Treehouse is thankful and honored to name her the first recipient of The Treehouse St. Elizabeth Circle Award
Give the Gift of Friendship
Treehouse moms have said one of the most important and lasting things The Treehouse provides is a strong support network made up of moms who are “doing life” together. These trusted friendships happen organically in our classroom, our thrift store, our playroom and our prayer room.
Your monetary gift to the St. Elizabeth Circle helps us add programs to encourage developing healthy friendships and a support network of peers and mentors.
